How it all started ...
The Gerdes & Söhne cabinet-maker’s workshop was set up in 1961 as a general partnership in Wiefelstede in Ammerland. Georg Gerdes and his two sons are the partners. The master craft, which was very broadly oriented from the start, operates in the fields of cabinet- and furniture-making, in shop-fitting and in interior design and, at the same time, has also made its name as a saw mill.
Construction Years
Thanks to its complex fields of activity, the right flair for market requirements and above all through its workmanship, the cabinet-making business has established as a constant on the market. Many new specialists are employed to manage the increasing order volume. At the same time, the machinery is continuously being developed.
From GmbH ...
After the new appointment of an architect, as from 1986 the fields of shop-fitting and interior design – especially for the gastronomy industry – are expanded. The next milestone occurs a year later: Gerdes Ladenbau GmbH is set up in 1987. Since then, the founding company, Georg Gerdes & Söhne oHG has operated as landlord of the land and buildings.
... into a strong group!
In order to be able to operate more flexibly on the market, other Gerdes companies are set up in the 90s. In 1993, Tischlerei Gerdes Holz-Systembau GmbH is added to the 1987-founded Gerdes Ladenbau GmbH. The Gerdes Group is founded in 1997. Five companies are integrated under its roof:
